Many schools dropped the exact class ranking to avoid the gaming of the system. There is no fair way to do exact rank as students take different classes. It is sad to see a student/parent aiming at a higher class rank instead of planning a career path for the student. Our school district has stopped class rank years ago. Also, it is hard to phase out class rank year by year as many classes are mixed with students from 2 different grades or more. Nevertheless, the unranked school will still give rank range in the student report (e.g. top 10%). A good student would still be a good student with or without the exact class rank.
Didn’t the OP post above someplace that this actually was NOT the case at her DDs HS…and that they WERE still ranking students?
Yes…post 62.
So…while this may be a concern for others…it is not one for the OP to this thread.
