Need advice in choosing schools

Hi,

I came up with a big list of my RD schools, and I am having trouble choosing where to apply and not apply. My parents and counsellor want me to choose some out of my list. Can you help me decide what colleges I should seriously consider?

I know I am supposed to visit, search and "feel" colleges. However, my circumstances and indecisiveness do not allow me to do so :[

I am looking for a good computer science program, and East Coast school with good financial aid. Reputation of school matters to certain extent (Korean parents :P). I have GPA of 98(weighted), barely made top 10% and SAT score of 2140 (Superscore). I have good ECs.

Accepted College: University of Michigan at ann arbor
Deferred College: UIUC
Rejected College: Cornell
Waiting for Decision: Binghamton, Stony Brook
Already Applied: Upenn, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Rochester

My RD List: - NorthEastern
- University of Maryland
- Virginia Tech
- Bucknell University
- Case Western
- Villanova
- Boston College
- Boston University
- NYU
- Vassar
- CMU
- University of Virginia
- Washington in St. Louis

Feel free to tell me other colleges.
Thanks in advance!!

You don’t necessarily have to visit a college to “feel” it; the internet is magic. Search the school’s website but also find student blogs or groups online to see if the people there sound like you. And by sound like you I don’t mean you’re from the same place or something like that, just personality-wise: any schools that you feel you wouldn’t get along with the general population are probably not worth an application.

Is Michigan affordable?

If so, eliminate schools from your application list that you would not choose over Michigan.

Also eliminate schools which have no chance of being affordable (check net price calculators and merit scholarships offered at each school).

These should trim the list to a more manageable size.
