Need advice on grad school/career

I graduated from Georgia Tech with a BS in Civil Engineering in December 2012. I found a job after about 7 months. My grades were great in school, but I had no internship experience. Anyways, I've been working since last July. The pay isn't great at all, but I'm getting good experience. I could have taken the grad school route immediately after completing my undergrad as many of my friends have done, but I chose different. I don't see myself at this company for the long term (mostly because of the pay).

Is MS necessary for civil engineers? How long should I wait/can I wait? The obvious answer is yes, that it is important. If you are familiar with the civil engineering discipline, you might be aware of the PE license exam. If I get that, is MS really necessary? How much will it help my career in terms of getting the job I want?

Thanks in advance.

An MS is not necessary for Civil Engineering. It is something that you might consider doing after a few years of work if you expect it will improve your salary or provide you with specialized skills that will help you in your career. You can certainly take the PE exam without a Masters degree. If you pass it it means a lot.
