I need advice. Recently I went back to school. I had a lot of transfer units. During the admissions process they said I have 39 units transfering . They had this many units at the registrar's and everything was set until only 35 units were showing up for financial aid. I started school and followed up with them until the 3rd week. They told me they were working on it and expressed to them my concern that I won't be able to register for next quarter in week 6 (because of the holds).

It's week 6 and all of a sudden they are telling me only 27 units will transfer. They said they sent me a letter but I never received anything. I meet with registrar's later today to find out why it was reduced. I still can't register because I have holds on my records. I am very displeased with this and am considering discontinuing my education there. The only problem is that Staffford Loans have already disbursed some funds to them. I also spent a lot of money on books and supplies, and I've been busting my butt for the past month and a half, working full time and going to school full time.

I'm getting my education in media arts and animation, and I am working in biotech. I have a well-paying job, although kind of boring. I wanted to follow animation as a passion. I feel like the school is "yanking my chain" and are not treating me fairly. But there are drawbacks to not completing as well (wanted to finish animation and the money, time and effort spent during this quarter).

My first question: I haven't talked to the school about refunding the loan disbursement, but if they are unwilling to do so, what actions can I take to get it back? The school is not doing what they are supposed to (I've had a lot of problems getting them to process my application, etc) and they signed me up under different pretense.

My second question: should I even be considering quitting? I've considered trying to learn this stuff online but don't feel like I would get as good of an education.
