how much am i expecting to get from:
columbia, amherst, williams, wake forest, carleton, notre dame?
Thanks!!

No real way of telling-- it's not that simple.

Expected Family Contribution is a function of Parent Income, Student Income, Parent's Assets (including home equity for schools that use the CSS Profile), and Student's assets. You can get an estimate of your EFC by using one of the calculators (FinAid's is good).

Then each school massages the EFC a bit, and comes up with an aid package that may include loans, work study, and grants. You can look up each of these schools at College Board to see what % of need they meet, on average, and what % of their aid packages are grants vs. loans.

In general, with family income of 60K, and minimal assets, you'd be eligible for substantial need-based aid. But if you or your parents have sizable assets, the EFC can rise considerably, resulting in much less aid.
