Need College Ideas/I have so so stats

I'm real smart, but did not put the effort into studying during the last couple of years. No excuses . . .

About Me:

Female

Preppy

High School Senior in a top Massachusettes Boarding School

Currently have a 2.8 UW GPA

No AP courses

Great social skills . . . savvy.

Joined a few clubs

SATs: All three tests around 550

Class rank: Right in the middle

Varsity Tennis

Fluent in French, mother-tongue
Three citizenships: French, US, and Spanish
Well-traveled
US born

Non-religious, but this does not preclude me from attending a religious affiliated school

Vivacious personality

Did not do any of the nonsense save-the-world trips to New Orleans, Costa Rica, etc. Instead, I spent my last 17 summers in France. I speak French and English without accents.

Interested in all things international and would like to study international relations and political science.

Some of the things I'm looking for in a college:

Within 6 hour drive of New York City
Hipster OK, but would prefer a more preppy environment
Not interested in attending a granola school
Can have frats, but not necessay
Do not want a suitcase school
College needs to have a name that I would be proud to attend
Active social life
A school with a political conscious
Motivated students
Not interested in an apathetic school
Not interested in attending a Japped-out school
Diversity is NOT that important to me

I like the feel of St. Lawrence, Hobart, and Gettysburg . . . even though these schools do not entirely fit the profile above . . . , but I am not sure that my grades will get me in.

Any ideas?

Manhattanville or Goucher.

Check out Dickinson, Ursinus, Washington College (MD) and Fairfield

is this serious?

“Did not do any of the nonsense save-the-world trips to New Orleans, Costa Rica, etc.”
LOL.

Nope. I did not do any of that nonsense. Come on, everyone knows that it’s only for rich kids that can pay the $8,000 to save the world in Costa Rica. The money would be better spent if half of it was given as a donation to a needy village. Don’t you think that most admission counselors can see through this? I would look like a stereotype: upper middle class white kid, attendinga $40,000/year boarding school, and traveling to Cost Rica to build a house. Give me a break.

u know what’s an even bigger stereotype? rick kid spending 17 summers in france.

i mean, please. whether those kids’ parents spend all that money on a volunteer trip to ‘costa rica’ or not…the kids are still actually giving up something i.e. their time/summers to help.

‘well-traveled’ means nothing if u travel to the most luxurious of places every where u go. those OTHER kids are well-traveled.

I should have been more clear in my self description. I am a French citizen, and I have USA citizenship as well. I know you mean well, but while in France, I’m not on the Riviera. Besides, many of my friends did the Costa Rica thing. I think the only memorable experience they got out of it was trying pot for the first time. Really, it sounds great on paper, but it’s a cliche. It’s one of those American things. Kids of my generation will back upon and laugh about it as a stunt we all thought was necessary in order to get into a college.

Hey, the girl is honest! LOL and, knows what she wants and doesn’t want! :)

What’s a granola school? Is that a hippy vegan type school?

How about…

Marist College
Quinnipiac U
Providence (may be too far from NYC)
Ithaca U
U of Delaware

If you’re willing to go further away…let us know…your stats are kind of limiting.

Since you’re smart, but underachieving, some of the A+ schools for B students would be good for you.

Thanks for the suggestions! I really appreciate it.
