Need help on my priorities.

So i’m currently in junior year high school, taking 4 AP’s, (US, Calculus BC, Biology, and Lang). The first semester is about to end, and I’m going to end up with 6 A’s, one B, and one C (The B is from Biology, the C is from Calculus). I’m pretty confident I can get all A’s next year as I’m getting used to the work load. From what I’ve calculated, I had a 3.19 GPA freshman year and a 3.6 GPA Sophomore year.

I want to study Computer science in college, but I’m getting stressed out because I have nothing outstanding to put on my application when the time comes. I don’t have any community hours, and my grades aren’t that great at all. The only thing that might save me is the ACT, which I’m feeling pretty confident I can score well, but even then I don’t have much to get into a decent UC.

What can I do right now to make my application look better? I see other applicants and they have hundreds of hours, have many hobbies they enjoy and looks good, but I have none. My older brother tells to do a small project relating programming if i will go into computer science, but I’m not entirely sure if that will work. I’m just stressed out and lost, as I have no idea what I’m doing anymore and have no clue what my goal should be. I come back from school too tired because I only get around 4-5 hours of sleep every night due to homework and studying.

Speaking as a junior in high school as well in an AP (US), I think some extracurriculars would help including leadership positions such as running for student council. If you’re not really big on student council you can go for smaller more uncontested positions such as secretary that many not be much at school but would really help your resume. I also recommend trying sports. I already play sports at school but i started tennis this year and enjoy it. Trying out new things like that can help. As for sleep, it is just being efficient. You may not realize it but taking time dilly dallying or checking instagram can really cut into quality time to do homework. Set a time after school to start homework to keep you from wasting time and stick to it. Mental health is important so go to bed earlier even if you’re not done with homework and wake up early to finish it! Your challenging course load shows how smart you are. You are more than capable of following through! Hope this helps!
