Hello all, hopefully you can help me out here. First I'll start off with my stats.

30 ACT
Over 200 hours community service in my church
Concert and Marching band for 4 years
NHS
7 AP Classes (3s on psych, apush, and English lang, rest haven't taken)
Taking University of Arizonas freshman engineering course
3.91 UW GPA, 4.13 W

Intended major- Electrical Engineering

Applied and Accepted to- U of Arizona (honors, full ride), ASU (full ride, applied to barrett), and Texas A&M (won't know till later)

Applied to UCLA (decision in March)

I am a Arizona resident.

What other schools should I apply to that would give me at least 10k of aid? Should I just stay in state? Who's better for engineering U of A or ASU?

Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by aid? Financial, income-based aid? Or merit?

UAlabama has a good engineering program they’re trying to hype up, and with your stats, you’ll get tuition+$2500 discretionary monies. You could try the Cal Poly’s, but just like UCLA, they have a financial situation considering how little money the Cali. government has.

Regarding staying in-state, I’m not sure, but I’d go with ASU (if you get into Barrett). Tempe has a lot more internship opp’s than Tucson, and it’s a bit more well-known.

Best of luck, man. I’ve got another year before I do this same routine. What Tucson HS do you go to, if you don’t mind me asking (through PM, of course).

I did a fafsa calculator and I will barely get any financial aid from that so most of it would be from merit I’m assuming.

You won’t get any aid from UCLA.

Yeah I was afraid of that. It is high on lists for best value though.

Best value as a CA resident.

Ohhhh makes sense. Any recommendations on other colleges?

How much money have your parents told you they can commit to paying each year, and for how many years? That is the figure you need. Then go through the list of ABET accredited programs for your major, and run the Net Price Calculators to see if any of them fit your budget: [Accredited Program Search](http://main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx)

I believe the new application deadline for UAlabama is January 6th. I believe it’s an automatic scholarship award with your stats. Compare it to Barrett and see what you think.

I’m not affiliated with either of these schools.

Remember to sign up for their Honors College, too.

I’d say ASU Barrett if you get in, otherwise UA_Honors. If you want to travel to another part of the country, just give yourself more choices, your odds are decent there:
wpi, rit, rpi, Clarkson, Union, NJIT, IIT, UAlabama’s College of Engineering.
Ask your parents how much they’re willing to pay; run the NetPrice Calculators and see if they can pay costs at any of the above schools.
