As I mentioned it above, I really need help with SAT.
I am worried about all of the section, but out of them, the critical reading gets me the most.
While I can get around 700 for writing and math, I get 500 for reading.
I tried The Princeton Review and Kaplan SAT prep classes, but it definitely shows that it is not working.
Can you guys suggest me on things to improve on my scores?
Also any prep books to suggest?
(I tried Barron's, Kaplan, college board, and mcgraw hill's)
Please and thank you =]

Like no joke, I am in the EXACT position as you.

Sorry no help but all I can say is I’m starting to read much more and studying vocab.

idk if reading helps, but the reading I do is normally at breakfast/dinner, reading The Week, Newsweek, Time Magazine, and Fortune Magazine (all free subscriptions from flyer miles that we have to use cus otherwise we lose the points, lol). The vocabulary/stuff in the articles aren’t particularly high-level and the style is very different from that of CR articles, so I really don’t know if it’s helped me at all. I doubt it.

On the other hand, what I can testify to is the effect that repeated practice will have on your scores. I began the summer with a 730-750, now I am at a 780-800 from working through all of Barron’s/kaplan CR wb + 15 CR sections from PR 11 tests (5 tests), which are definitely harder. I’ve heard it’s not accurate, and tbh it sort of isn’t, but hey, it raised my score, so I don’t care. I’ve tried one section of McGraw-Hill’s CR; it seems a bit on the easy side (though 1 section doesn’t say much).

PRACTICE MUCHO. Also people ask me a lot for how I tackle CR. I use the old fashioned method: read and answer; I never read questions first (yeah I’m pretty stubborn like that). Answer main idea Q’s after everything else; do 1 passage at a time in double-passaged ones.

As for math, take past AMC8 tests. A very large stockpile can be found here: [AMC 8 Problems and Solutions - AoPSWiki](Art of Problem Solving)
The AJHSME is the same thing, just earlier years. For harder questions google up AMC 10’s.

Writing, what can I say, know the rules and practice the essays.

Just learn vocab, learn the strategies for getting through the CR sections, that’s about all I can say.

I second Kyrix1 for AMC tests as practice. I find it odd that a middle school math contest can act as very good preparation for the SAT. What has our country’s education come to…you can also try some early-mid AMC10/12 problems if you want more algebra/analysis.

Not sure how the above post relates to the topic at hand, but you should check out the CR guide here on CC. I really like that strategy. However, you may not. In that case, you can come up with your own strategy. You just have to find a strategy you like and practice it using a bunch of CollegeBoard tests. Knowing all of the vocabulary that is presented on the tests doesn’t hurt either.
