I was accepted as a transfer to WM and am considering going. I attend USC now. Do you know any transfer students? How well have they adjusted to life on campus? Also, does W&M have good connections with DC as far as getting a job after graduation (in politics/govt)?

As I am only a freshman, I don't know any transfers really, so I can't really comment there...

W&M does have good connections in DC. They even have a place up there where you can do summer work if you want to. The Northern VA alumni group (or something) put on a gathering for admitted students last spring, and one of the people there was... I forget how old, I want to say 27, but he was definitely under 30, and he was 1 of 3 of a group of top lawyers for Bush's campaign. Regardless of what you think of any politician, having a high position in their legal office before age 30 seems quite impressive to me.

I am posting this through my mom's username, but I am a high school freshman who is interested in going into a career in art, with possibly a minor in computer science/programming (to enhance my marketibility in the 3D field). What do you know of the strength of WM's art program? Are there students that happy with their education in that department, and is there an opportunity to pursue classes in the two programs? ( art and computer science/technology) Any information you could share with me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

the Comp Sci program is not that strong, but for what you want to use it for, it should be fine. I don't know much about the art program, but basically they have 2 different tracks, 1 for 2d art, and 1 for 3d art.

EEH, What was your GPA at USC? My boyfriend is looking to transfer from Tech to W&M next year, and I was wondering what kind of grades they looked for. Thanks

my GPA was a 3.7. but I am out-of-state, so your boyfriend will prob be fine with a lower GPA. Their official transfer admissions webpage says they want to see a 3.5 from 4-year schools and a 3.7 from community colleges

Does anyone know when we recieve our housing forms and what types of questions they contain?

housing will probably come in June. The form was really short, and you actually do it online. It's only like 8 questions. Night person or morning person, smoke / not smoke, etc.
