With the new school year underway I wanted to get some feedback from W&M students, especially freshman, on their experiences so far (good and bad).

AMAZING! Great people, great classes, incredible sports and opportunities. Every time I walk through campus I feel like I’m too lucky to be surrounded by the beauty Also, contrary to popular belief, the people here are crazy happy (suicide rate? what? we’re actually significantly below the national average) and there is SO much to do on weekends, from exploring New Town on the free transportation system to relaxing with friends on the Sunken Garden, to chilling at the frats.

Apply here. I almost didn’t and that would have been a horrendous decision.

^ That sounds awesome…I hope I get in. ;-;

I will report for an anonymous freshman:

having a great time, enjoying everything… grades a little rough to start off with.

Fig… glad you are having such a great time!

I am loving W&M so far. I’ve met tons of great people, joined a lot of organizations, and the workload isn’t too bad so far (just a lot of reading). Most of my classes and professors are great as well. My history class in particular is amazing.

I’ve had so much fun just hanging out with people in my dorm and going out to the sunken gardens or wawa late at night. Williamsburg itself isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be either.

I am having an awesome time right now, and this is me typing the night before my first history test! The workload has been challenging but not impossible to do, and i’ve already met so many great people on my hall alone. I’m pledging a fraternity and that takes away some of the extra time i had before, but it is worth it (for me at least). If you have anything in particular you wanted to find out from a freshman shoot me a private message!

My nephew is a freshman.

His response: The classes have a lot of reading but the teachers are good. There is way more drinking on campus and parties every weekend. I was nervous about coming here because I thought everyone would study all the time but it is really fun and everyone is nice here.

You can find some pretty cool pictures of stuff going on around the campus at:

bump this up

Decent time. Grades were good, but I had to bust my ass (would prefer not to lol, but it comes with the territory). Dorms are awful. Most professors nice enough. Overall I would do it again but live off-campus.

^Which dorm are you in?
