Need I even apply?

I have a 3.4 GPA and am in the top 25% of my class.. I got a 31 ACT.. Good extracurriculars, leadership positions, nice essay, good recs.. However, it's freaking Swat. Do I stand even a remote chance?

Thanks.

If you want to go to Swat, then apply! As long as you have plenty of other schools on your list, including safeties that you like, you really have nothing to lose but a $60 application fee--and you'll never know unless you try.

No, you dont have even the most remote chance

^ What loco said is totally not true.

Your GPA's a little low for Swat, but the rank's fine, so you guys are obviously competitive, and that's okay. Yes, you stand a chance - especially if you have an amazing essay and have shown a lot of interest in the school. Where are you geographically?

Wisconsin.

Idealistic:

You haven't provided anywhere near enough information to give an education opinion. There are too many key factors that could make top 25% viable at Swat or that could blow you out of the ballgame. Without going into a good bit of detail, I couldn't even hazard a legitimate guess.

Since you aren't applying Early Decision, there's not a whole lot to lose sending in an app. That is, ultimately, the only way to know.

Eh, waste of money.

Well, location definitely gives you a boost, then. There won't be that many applicants from your area...definitely go for it. Like someone said, all you have to lose is the application fee. :]

I guess it's too late to try to get an alum interview in your area, though.

It's not whether you can get in with the 3.4, the question is whether you can survive here with a high school 3.4.
