ok how are my chances at stanford scea?
I don't know wether i should just wait until rd, or apply now because i have all the app materials ready.

Took most rigorous course load school has to offer
current schedule:
AP LA 12, AP Chem, AP Calc, AP American Gov., Photography, Piano
GPA: 3.8UW
Test Scores: This is what kills me ugh.... SAT I - 1810, 1920.....
EC's: They are good, too lazy to list.
I have a couple of awards, nothing to major. I am a low-income urm, and I know stanford takes challenges and factors into consideration...

How are my chances??? Not too good? My app is perfect except for my dang test scores. The thing is, i know stanford is my number 1 choice, but the applicant pool for scea is so strong that my test scores I fear will get me automatically rejected.

My question is, should I desperately try and improve my test scores and apply rd, or just hope i get lucky and that stanford will see through my test scores and admit me through scea?

Also, I heard there is an option that once you submit your scea application, you can change your mind and make it a normal rd app by dec 1. So lets say i get good scores before dec. 1, maybe I will just be able to change my app to rd then.

I know this kind of an obscure post, but plz give me your honest opinions, this thing is consuming my mind right now and I'm not sure what to do.

I definately would do that last option if that is in fact legit.
Of course, i think your scores are a little to low for stanford, but your gpa does put you into consideration.
I've seen urm's from my school with SAT I's in the 1700 ranges get accepted to ivys and top schools. Of course these students had a big number of other factors going for them. I think you have the same type of case, so my advice is don't sweat it and just apply scea. I would imagine that not too many low-income urms apply scea anyway.

I'd say you have like a 50/50 chance. I'm not talking as in a percentage, im saying that either the admins will see you for who you truly are, or you will just be rejected because of your scores. Just go for it, don't live in fear of rejection.

^he makes a good point. Just apply scea. Even if you are rejected(which you probably will be) you can square away your test scores for other prominent schools for the rd round. If you are accepted, well you need not do anything.

um thanks kevinhamilton08. greatone1 i don't understand your logic, wouldn't it make more sense to square away my scores for stanford, since its my number 1 choice?

well it seems then you already know your answer. why are you asking?
And i said that you should do it that way because you were insistent on applying scea, so I just made a suggestion that would adhere to that and still give you a good shot at schools for rd.
If you feel that way however, just apply to stanford rd.

i disagree. apply scea, fear of the applicant pool is not justification for not applying early if you have everything ready. Besides, its not as if the rd round is any easier to be admitted through.

If you really feel like Stanford is your number one choice, then disregard the applicant pool and apply early action. The thing is that we as CC posters care about what everyone else does because we're human, but we have to accept that we're not adcoms, and we don't get the "big picture" that they see on your application and resume and what not. I've been discouraged from applying EA too by some peers until I bring up my SATI and II scores, but a couple of hours ago, I thought about it and decided if they didn't want me early, they won't want me RD, so tomorrow, I'm submitting all my paperwork -- why wait until March to see if I'm rejected/accepted. (Thankfully I have my common app and supplement done, this wasn't a whim).

Point being on the chance that you don't improve, don't wait. Let them know what you can offer their campus and why they couldn't do without you. And soon.
