Need Major Change, Help

(srs)

So I go to UC Irvine next month and I'm listed as a CS major. The thing is, I thought it was cool before I was bodybuilding (about a year ago). The idea of sitting behind a computer for the rest of my life as a fat-ass sounded enticing. Not anymore. I don't wanna do that ****. I won't have time to lift or even eat properly because I'll be studying non-stop. The future looks bleak too because the jobs probably require me to sit behind a computer for the rest of my life.

What major should I switch to to avoid being immobile? Something kinda laid back would be nice. UCI is not accepting changes into the school of nursing or business.

Got into bodybuilding
Accepted into UCI as CS major
Don't wanna be a CS major anymore
Needs ideas

You won’t be studying non-stop as a CS major. Yes it can be difficult but if you manage your time correctly you will still have time left over to work out. I know of EE majors who have played for (although crappy) D1 football teams.

That also goes for CS jobs. Yes you’ll be sitting in front of a computer at work. But after work you’ll have time to do something active.

I’m in a similar position. Engineering in general requires a lot of desk work any more; most the on-the-job stuff is done on computers.

Look into nutrition, landscape architecture, marine biology, and a vast amount of other jobs that don’t focus on desk work.

I’m looking at doing earth science…you do some computer stuff from what I understand but you get some field time too!

Two of my friends in undergrad were double majors in Materials Science & Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. Another majored in math. Each started on our football team. Each also had over a 3.5 GPA.

There’s no reason why you can’t exercise and participate in things you enjoy unless you have poor time management skills.

…

You can have a life outside of school/work if you want to. You make a few fairly offensive claims in your post. IMHO, you should reevaluate why you’re leaving CS… if those are the real reasons, you’re probably doing everybody a favor by getting out.

You will have plenty of free time as a CS (or any other) major, especially with good time management. However, you will have substantially more free time if you select an easier major.
