Need more target schools that have great academics

Might I remind members of the forum rules: “Our forum is expected to be a friendly and welcoming place, and one in which members can post without their motives, intelligence, or other personal characteristics being questioned by others."

I have deleted several posts. Sadly, some of them may have had pearls of wisdom for the OP.

Principals List and Scholar of the Marking Period might be honors at your high school, but they likely won’t affect admissions. I sort of feel the same way about National Honor Society.

Any recommendations should be based on one of the three majors under consideration. For example: If you intend to major in finance, then consider Indiana University Kelley School of Business; for biomedical engineering, Bucknell University should be considered; for biology, the lowest cost school that is attractive to you.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I will not need anymore at this point but I appreciate everyone’s advice greatly:)

One quick last bit of expectation setting advice is that U Florida is Hard Match, not match, due to how few OOS they admit. Only about 5-6% of an incoming class typically.

Tufts might be smaller than what you’re looking for but could be a great reaching addition.

With regard to the students from your school who have gotten in to UVa with lower SAT/GPA than you, do you know (or can you figure out) who these students are? Do they have admission “hooks” (such as athletic prowess) or is there something about their personal characteristics or qualities that sets them apart? Do you know far far back in time they were admitted? (UVa used to cap OOS admits to 27% of the incoming first-year class; if these people were admitted pre-Covid, when there were probably fewer OOS applicants, then the chances of OOS admission were better.)

There are several reasons why some of these dots on the scattergram might be outliers, and not representative for admission to UVa.

Just wanted to point out that one of your major (finance) is in the business school. For example ohio state(biology) might be easier than ohio state(finance). Same could be true for UVA, but not sure finance is available as a UG major.

I agree that it is a reach for this applicant, but per the 2021 Common Data Set 12.4% of the freshman class was OOS, and that is not inclusive of international students.

oh wow, I missed that. Had been hovering at just about 6% for years. thanks!

Wake Forest and U Miami came to mind. NC State or Florida State would fit the list.
