Need some major help here!

Well firstly i am a High school junior who is extremely stressed. Reasons being my first real SAT is on Saturday and i need a good score on that. I know im taking it early but i think that the more i take it the better i will get at it. i will take it a maximum of 3 times.

The reason for this thread is..i am wanting to become a physican in the ER as a career. I need a decent list of universities IN Texas that are good for an undergraduate schooling. I live in the town of Baylor University, Waco, TX. I am in the top 7% of my class...actually here you go i already made a post about this.......

All right, firstly i would like to thank you for atleast reading this thread. To begin with i am a current High-School student in a class of 500 (junior). I have a couple questions to ask so bear with me. my first question is what kind of GPA should i be aiming for, for a BS/MD-DO program. Secondly, im am worrying alot about my upcoming SAT's, any tips on studying and what kind of score i would need for a program. And lastly with my current credentials what are my chances at a BS/MD-DO program? Heres a list of my credentials:

Past classes:
Pre-ap Chem and Bio
Pre-ap History and world geo.
Pre-ap Geometry and Algebra 2
regular English classes (not my strongest subject)

Schedule for this year:
Pre-ap Pre-Calculus
Pre-ap Spanish 3
Pre-ap Art
Ap Physics B
and a Dual-credit history class. Getting 6 college hours :)
and for an extra health class i am taking a HST class (health science tech)

For my senior year this is my "hopefull" schedule:
AP Bio
Ap Chemistry
Dual credit english IV
AP Calculus
Anatomy and Physiology of the Human Systems (college class)
and bloww off elective(EDIT:decided to take another health related class:which is 2 semesters: First (Medical Microbiology) second (Pathophysiology)

for EC's:
member of H.O.S.A(EDIT: officer:reporter)
National Honor Society
Spanish club
and over a 150 volunteer hours last summer alone at a local hospital.
Not that many opportunities for EC's in my town/school

My SAT score in 7th grade was 1180(if that helps)
My PSAT was a 169 last year(i looked over it,very stupid mistakes)
my GPA is 99.13 class rank 38/498

That's it thank you for any and all advice

OK in addition anyone mind telling me what IB's are? i don't think my school offers them.

Bump it up!

Don’t worry about it too much. First off IBs are just like AP classes, you can google it to find out more about them but as long as you take some AP classes it won’t really matter. For the SATs just do your best, I think you will probably do fine but you will still have plenty of tries and even if you don’t do great it will not affect your chances at med school. There was not really a question so if you have one be a little more direct with it. Good Luck.

what are some good colleges in my reach for an undergraduate?

bum bum bump it up

come on guys help me out

bumpppppppppp

Are you strictly looking for schools with the BS/MD type of program or are you just looking at undergraduate schools for a BS/BA?

I’m going to answer on the assumption that you’re talking about just undergraduate schools since I have no idea about the BS/MD program.

A “good college” really depends on you. I mean there are rankings of some schools that might be better than others, but, in my personal opinion, you basically learn the curriculum at whatever school you go to, though, of course, the quality of the curriculum you learn is variable. The only situation where it might matter where you go is if you’re aiming at one of the top tier medical schools, but I’m basing this statement solely off what I’ve heard (which is not a reliable source). Your credentials seem pretty solid and some Texas universities automatically accept those in the top 10% so you should have a wide range of opportunities. Heh, I guess I’m not really sure what you’re asking. Hopefully, I said something that helped?

Good luck with those SAT’s!

a little late on the Gl with the Sat thing since we get scores tommorrow lol but ty for ur insight
