Need some (mega) help

So... yay I got into the school I've been wanting to go to since forever. Even more yay, I got into the engineering college for aerospace engineering, what I've been wanting to do since before forever.

The plan was to apply and if I got in then apply to the Airforce/Navy/Army Rotc programs so they would pay for it :) (OOS student). Then of course go into the military and get some experience to go along with my degree.

Unfortunately, I missed the deadline for it by a couple days because first I wasn't aware and second I was waiting to look into it after I got accepted because I have 100% scholarship in-state (Which if i used I wouldn't need to be in the military). But IMO there is no school in Florida for me anyway.

OKay so that plan backfired. Next was loans which I don't mind taking out because I'm responsible and given the chance I would definitely pay them back. So I filled out my FAFSA and I check my award summary which has like 22k under the Parent plus loan. But my parents wont take it out. Ok fine w/e so i call the school to see my options and they direct me to private loans which my parents did assent with.

So I look up some private loans which I begin to apply. Next I need to find a cosigner and am shut down by my parents (ty for pushing me so hard to go to college and helping so very much). So now loans dont look like an option.

Finally I try for a deferment so i can reapply for the military scholarships. I call again and they say they usually wont do it for financial reasons but to try anyways since the Engineering college does look more favorably at it than other colleges. I sent them a nice email with everything i needed in it but still havent received a reply.

As of now it looks like I worked so hard these past years for nothing since I'm probably going to be home next year. A little confused as to what to do here... any suggestions?? (btw i would do just about anything to get out of this place and go to UIUC)

your parents are mean for not cosigning for you. You should try to talk to them more and convince them that once you get a great education at UIUC you will get a great paying job and they should support you for now because that is what parents’ jobs are. To guide their children through life and help them become something for themselves. Also you should try applying for lots of scholarships. every little bit of money helps! and you can keep applying throughout all your years in college to help lessen the load financially.

They don’t listen to me :frowning: and were not really on talking terms anymore since they decided to be so evil. & the thing about scholarships is you never know if you are going to get them or not, of course I’ll keep applying though.

oh man im sorry. I dont know what else to tell you. Hopefully others will have better advice.
