@plsacceptme101 - Congratulations! Enjoy your time at UChicago.
I agree your chances seem pretty good. I’d just be sure you pick some lower ranked LACs for your RD list (a couple) just in case your GPA turns out to be an issue. And keep driving forward on the RD apps; if you get rejected ED, it can take the wind out of your sails and make it hard to keep working on RD apps. But you need to, in case you are rejected or the FA package isn’t workable.
My son is entering his junior year at Vassar. On the location, I think the location is fantastic. Yes, it is not in New York City and there are not a million clubs and famous bands playing in your neighborhood every night, but it is in the Hudson river valley which is the most beautiful place on earth, lots of historic sites like the Roosevelt presidential library and Vanderbilt mansion, endless quant artsy colonial towns like Rhinebeck and New Palz, the culinary institute of America and incredible opportunities for outdoor hiking and touring. The Hudson river valley is very affluent. Vassar is in a town called Richmond right outside of Poughkeepsie. Right across the street from campus with a dozen restaurants and the waterfront in Poughkeepsie itself is actually very nice and of course if you really want to the train station is like a 10 minute cab ride and 1 hour train ride into NY. Also Poughkeepsie is a city with city and county government offering intern opportunities if needed. But of course no one actually every leaves campus. My son is active with a group of friends who do D&D and attends exhibits at it’s world class art museum, goes to guest lectures and by the way you don’t want to go to Vassar really if your are not interested in live theater. There is quite the competition among the theater groups. I just went through another round of college tours getting my daughter into college (she ended up a Rice and loves it) but it just reinforced the my opinion that Vassar and Duchess county are great. I recommend the Maya Café in whoppengers falls
