Need some School Recommendations

Applying for Mechanical Engineering

Some quick stats

GPA: 3.88 (without electives. Same GPA for soph/junior) - Unweighted out of 4, school does not weigh grades.
-Basically took the hardest courses possible in each grade.

SAT: 730 CR, 790 Math, 800 Writing (10 Essay)
800 SAT Math 2, 780 Bio M, I have yet to take the Physics SAT.... I know, I know.

Just looking at my academic stats, what kind of schools should I be looking at?

I'm interested in Cornell, Princeton, Purdue and Rice so far.

Also looking for schools with generous financial aid (which Cornell is not).

Thank you.

Where are you located? Where do you want to live after you graduate?

Live in MA, want to live on either coast. Preferably NE area or California after graduation.

As for schools, would prefer schools that are within ~400 miles of Boston but please list schools that are anywhere in the US.

Carnegie Mellon? I think I read somewhere they give good aid.

Is MIT too close to the city of sin?

If you are considering IVY league I would also consider MIT, Harvey Mudd, Carnegie Mellon (as suggested), Berkeley, Stanford, and CalTech. Also consider Cal Poly as it does have a very good MechE program and is an awesome area to live in, especially during your college career.

I have a colleague who is a MechE and to Wentworth Institute of Tech… not sure how they rank or their rep, but he is a really good MechE. Though he may be the exception rather than the norm.

My first thought was Cal Poly as well… awesome area.
