Need tips for boosting score an extra 50-100 points

Hi All,

The scores of my latest 2-3 bluebook practice tests are around 1950... 540-560 Critical Reading, 700-710 Math, and 680-700 Writing. I am looking to "get over that hump" to a score of 2000... so I was wondering which of these areas are in most immediate need of improvement, and which prep books outside of the blue book do you find most grueling and effective?

A bit of background on myself... I'm doing self prep at home (my cousin's helping me and he got 2200). My writing score was always around that area, i've done the entire barron's math workbook (I had 630 math before doing it), and I've tried the Kaplan's CR book (it hasn't helped much imo). I've gone through about 15 pages of topics before making this post, please help!

Thanks in advance :]

first of all, welcome to the forums

as i understand it, it is easiest to improve in math and writing, so i would take a look through gruber’s math review as well as RR’s writing review. the tips there should be more than enough to get you over the 2000 hump. that said, if you have the time, you can probably improve your score by more than that.

Working on math will get you over the hump easily. Avoid making careless mistakes and you’ll be fine.

Gruber has a pretty nice math section. You should also look over the barron’s math wb again.I reviewed the book 3 times now and my score raised from 670 to 800-high 700’s.
What i did was…
1st time-
-Read all the sections and do all the practice problems
-recorded my time, % right, and minutes per question
-Review all the answers (even the one’s i got right) to know how to answer the questions or to find if the book had an easier method.

2nd time-
-Work on the sections that i didnt get 100% on. Also read the section.
-recorded my time, % right, and minutes per question
-check only wrong answers this time

3rd time-
Work through entire wb again without reading the sections.

You should also look at PR 11 practice test

i would not do any practice tests other than the ones from TCB

hows ur essay scoring? maybe u might wanna get lil higher in W and read the question twice for math, once for answering, and once for confirming that u’ve answered the right one.
do u make stupid mistakes in math? if so,then thats the easiest section to improv on, if u get stuck on hard problems, then u need to use grubers.

I sort of have a problem with gerund and infinitive can anyone give me tips
