Nervous about applying for CS

Alright so I just submitted my EA for LMU two days ago with a declared CS major…
LMU stat’s wise is a safety/target, ACT: 29 and WGPA: 4.02
I have been in CS since sophomore year when I took AP CS and then did early morning projects classes my junior and senior year and also run the website and volunteer with teaching young girls how to code. I didn’t even think that LMU had major impacted acceptances, but i just read that the CS major is only about 20 students?!!? So now i am insanely nervous that I am not going to get in based on I might not be the best candidate for the CS major there. Does anyone know if LMU will accept you but place you into a different major???!? I am seriously freaking out because LMU is supposed to be a safety but I dont think it is anymore
I’ve also has a really rigorous curriculum and have taken 9 AP’s by the time I graduate…
Please help!!

Also my EC’s include peer tutor, club soccer, sailing instructor, coding instructor, cross country, president of environmental club, NHS and some others that arent as significant

I don’t know if they accept you and put you into a different major, but as long as your essays are good and you have good extracurriculars, you shouldn’t be too concerned. I also applied to LMU EA and its pretty much a target school for me. Wishing you the best of luck!

I asked their admissions office if they considered majors in acceptance, and they said they do, and that they did not have an “alternate major” program of any kind, so if they don’t accept you into the major, you don’t get accepted at all.

However, I wouldn’t lose hope. Your academics are already above average for LMU, and from my conversations with their admissions office, computer science doesn’t seem to be an incredibly competitive major (or at the very least, it’s less competitive than Film Production which is where I’m applying).

I think you’ll be fine. You have good academics and a strong overall resume in context to Computer Science.

@nervous2023applicant13344 have you been accepted?

Yes
