Nervous to send in my app...

Scared and frustrated out of my mind.

nyu poly is my top choice school and i am afraid to apply at all....

priority deadline is coming up and i want to submit my app but i was wondering what everyone thinks of my app:

Academics/Test Scores:
GPA: 3.00 UW

Max SCIENCE/MATH AP's/Hnrs availaible.

ACT: 28
super score: 29
SAT: 2010
Super score: 2010

SAT2's: 660 BIO E/M and I just took math2 and i think i did reasonable.

Regents: all 80s and a 78 in chem (i was in a car accident the day before and had 48 stitches and was in a crap-load of pain/stress)

Extracurricular:
Nothing spectacular. Average stuff-

3 clubs with no positions in any (3-4 years in all clubs)
Out of school sports (tennis/karate/swimming)
volunteer work ~150 hrs at hospital
Doctor Shadowing ~120 hrs in foreign hospital

raised a huge amount of money with an organization for funding at the same hospital i shadowed at.

Essays/LoRs:
Essays are well written.

LoRs are also strong especially the one written by the doctor i shadowed who was director of his department

no major hooks besides the fact that i am the first person in my entire extended family to ever go to an american university but i am not sure that makes me first gen or whatever cause my parents are both educated (doctors).

Major: Bio engineering/premed (should i mark undecided instead to increase my chances?)

Where Naviance puts me:

i posted the same thread a long time ago but with some 'hypothetical test scores' but it never worked out under a different name. Forgot the password and username though....

per say i was eventually rejected, would it be possible to send in an appeal letter later with solid reasons why they should reconsider my app? (retaking the SATs again for a foreign school in pakistan in march, will be on varsity tennis team in march and will have a solid amount of volunteer hours (around 50+ more).

No idea about Poly, so I can’t really say too much.

Your SAT is good; your ACT is alright.

Your GPA, however, is quite low.

It seems 10% of students have a GPA lower than yours, so I suppose you’re not so bad off.

I’m unfamiliar with Poly admissions, as isn’t really a true part of NYU; as such it isn’t nearly as competitive for admissions, thus I would say you should get in.

@nyu2013: thank you for the speedy and reassuring reply. Just curious, where did you find the 10% stat?

collegeboard

oh wow. thanks for that.

As far as an appeal letter if you got rejected? Not really done and is considered inappropriate. They have no obligation to explain a rejection to you nor entertain an appeal.
