NESCAC Football

Alright, sorry guys but I have one more question about Williams. I don't play football, but I saw that Williams won the NESCAC with an undefeated 8-0 record. I looked to see if they moved on to the playoffs, but I did not see them in the bracket. Is the winner of the NESCAC not allowed to move on per conference rules or did they not qualify for a wild-card spot.

If anyone knows an answer would be much appreciated, but I don't play football so it isn't life changing for me, just my curiosity.

NESCAC football teams do not participate in the NCAA championships due to restrictions placed on the length of the season. NESCAC schools also only play conference teams in football.

Alright thanks for the info!

Williams isn’t too bad in basketball this year either. Ranked #1 in the country for Div. III:

NESCAC schools do not participate in the NCAA Division III playoffs, just as the Ivy League schools do not participate in the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs.

The 8-game NESCAC regular season schedule is probably the shortest football season in the NCAA.

And honestly, all the teams in NESCAC play shorter seasons because it is really about the academics-the sports are fun, and a way to stay in shape, make friends, and win a bit of glory for self and alma mater…but it’s still about the class work.
