NESCAC Schools alumni

Of the NESCAC schools, which would you say has the strongest/weakest alumni networks?

Wesleyan, Amherst and Williams, not necessarily in that order.

Strongest is necessarily subjective. One objective measure is endowment per pupil. For that ranking, you can look here: https://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/college-rankings/details/EndowmentPerStudent/Conference/New%20England%20Small%20College%20Ath%20Conf

Or you can look at percent of alumni who give. Or who attend reunions. Or who attend sporting events. Or who recruit on campus.

What exactly do you hope this alumni network will deliver?

@oldchief78- endowment per pupil is a subjective proxy. Just because it is easy to measure does not make it objective.

@gardenstategal Looking for a strong tight knit alumni network that will help me get a good job right out of school, especially if i decide not to go to grad school

For the 3 you are considering, my sense is that alumni are connected to each other, love their school, and would help a recent grad if they can. That last bit is important – if you are interested in a field in which many alumni work, that’s great. If your tight network doesn’t have people where you need them, tight doesn’t help.

Alums with pull often will arrange for their companies to recruit on campus, so you may want to see who comes to campus to recruit. You can also look on the websites to see if they do events where alumni return to campus or offer career shadowing opportunities.

Most of the isolated schools have very strong community, and those ties tend to stay strong after graduation .

Though I’m somewhat reluctant with respect to monetizing my response, U.S. News includes salary data that might relate to prospects for immediate employment:

Tufts: $56,700
Hamilton: $55,600
Williams: $55,500
Trinity: $53,700
Bowdoin: $51,700
Middlebury: $51,600
Colby: $50,300
Wesleyan: $50,300
Bates: $50,000
Connecticut: $47,500
Amherst: NA

Under seemingly similar criteria, Forbes includes Amherst, Williams, Tufts and Hamilton in “10 Expensive Colleges Worth Every Penny”:
