Nespresso coffee machines - recommendations, thoughts, which machine to get?

Gosh, @leftrightleft thank you so much! I ordered one - even has the frothier with it!

First time purchasing something from Bloomingdales as we don’t have it!

Someone else go get this deal!

I sort of love that I didn’t sweat over a model -this deal makes this one sort of a no brainer - my S and DIL will be so excited!

@abasket that’s the same price I paid for the one I got at Williams Sonoma for D23 two years ago (it was also on a big sale).

One thing I didn’t realize until I visited her a couple months ago is that the VertuoPlus makes not just espresso but also coffee. It just depends on the pods you choose but the machine just knows which type of pod it is and adds the appropriate amount of water. I actually wish we had this machine rather than the one we have, so I would have the option, especially when we have guests. The only downside for me is that the pods cost more but we don’t use it every day (we also have a single serve pour over thing we use for daily coffee).

I’ve been researching the Nespresso machines lately in case my 14 year old espresso machine bites the dust. If I want to make 4 shots, do I need to use 4 pods? Seems so, but would like to verify.

Yes, I noted the two sizes. S and DIL have a regular Bunn coffee maker they love so I think they would use this mainly for espresso. I’ll buy them a selection to get started with!

By the time my sister here on the west coast read my email, the bloomies deal was sold out :frowning:

As someone else sad, be sure and register it. There are welcome gifts that your recipient should order.
If there are any problems with it in the first year, they need to call Nespresso- they replace misbehaving/broken machines.

I have the Citiz version and it is a nice compliment to a regular coffee maker. I found the pods from Trader Joe’s to taste pretty good and they are less expensive. Love the Aeroccino maker that came with my machine - it froths both hot and cold, and we use it to make hot chocolate in addition to cappuccino/lattes.

FWIW I did just invest in a super automated espresso machine from Gaggia. Expensive, but the coffee and espresso drinks are far better tasting than my Nespresso and it has almost completely replaced my afternoon coffee shop run.

I’ll bet there will be some attractive Black Friday sales on these machines. Track Amazon, Williams-Sonoma and Nespress.com

“Bloomingdale’s email today showed a Nespresso De’Longhi Vertuoplus deluxe on sale for $129,”

The thing to keep in mind is that this machine used the vertuo capsules not smaller original capsules. The originals are easier to find.

"Peet’s pods were $25 for 80 in-store at costco. "

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen these at my Costco in years. So have to stick with Costco.com

@Houndmom I have a love/hate relationship with that darned Aeroccino frother. My first one worked for about 18 months then just stopped frothing. It was running, but the milk would not froth. I ended up reviewing it on Nespresso’s website and they actually contacted me to replace it. Well, the second one, same thing happened after a year or so. They told me it was the milk I was using, however, it even happened with milk that was brand new and not low fat/skim (Meanwhile, my first frother worked for a year with almond milk until it suddenly didn’t anymore). So after the second one wasn’t really frothing, the person had me test out all kinds of things while on the phone with me. Still didn’t give me frothy/foamy milk. They sent me a third one. I’ve had this one about a year and it still doesn’t really froth (gets hot, but very little froth and no foam at all). I give up. My husband only makes espresso so he doesn’t care but I miss my lattes/cappuccino. Judging by the reviews, it’s not just me. I need to just buy a new hand frother elsewhere.

But all that said, their customer service was absolutely amazing every single time I’ve dealt with them.

The one I purchased today takes two different sizes. (???) One for coffee, one for espresso.

I never thought the frother that comes with the nespresso machine ever made good froth lol!

One year at Amazon prime day, I bought a different frother and it works great. I love that the base detaches from the pitcher. The pitcher goes into the dishwasher and I store it in the refrigerator so that my milk is very cold. Makes great foamy milk.

Looks like this. But I think I only paid $40 or so. It was a prime day deal

I have the black cylinder frother, not sure if that makes a difference. Thankfully, no problems … even after my teenage daughter went through an “obsessed” phase and used the thing non-stop!

Glad to hear customer service took good care of you.

It’s the most expensive Nespresso machine by a wide margin but if you really like traditional steamed milk lattes and cappuccinos then the Creatista models have a steam wand for frothing. The frothing is automated - you set the temp and foam targets and it does the rest.

The Creatista (comes in Pro and Plus, I have the Plus) uses original line capsules. Works quite fast as well, no warm up time required for the pump or steam.

We’ve been using ours for 2-4 lattes per day for about 18 months and it’s held up great.

You’ll have to share once you receive it, but I think both sizes are of the vertuo style (rounder but flatter) not the original capsule pod style. Let us know!

I just received and email from Nespresso that they have both Vertuo and Original advent calendars available this year. It’s not the thing for me, because I couldn’t stray from my morning Stormio but I thought of this thread and wondered if anyone might be interested.

I have an original model Nespresso, which I love. It’s so easy, the coffee is great, and I order the pod directly from Nespresso and ship back the empty pods in the bag Nespresso provides. (I hope they really recycle and don’t throw them out.)

Anyway–I went to a friend’s who has a Nespresso with a frother attached. Now, I have frother envy. Does anyone know if there a separate frother that Nespresso makes? Any recommendations for a stand-alone frother? Thinking it would be a good Xmas gift for my H.

Nespresso makes a frothed called Aeroccino. This is the newer version of the one we had (kid expropriated it):

Not really on topic, but since I posted here asking questions I figured I’d post my answer. I was walking around Macy’s one day and they had a 5 cup coffee machine on sale for 9.99. I googled it and at BB&B it was 29 or 39, and it had good ratings, so I grabbed it. My husband will be just as happy with that as with any fancy machine.
