Net Price Calculator and Pell Grants

New to the Forums - Junior Daughter looking at schools and we are using the Net Price Calculator on CollegeBoard.

It shows us as being eligible for a Pell Grant, which sounds great but I think is a mistake. I think the limit on family income for pell grants is $60K, and we are above that.

It makes me question the accuracy of the whole system. Does anyone have experience with this? I checked several schools and got similar results. I carefully checked my entries... Don't know what else to think.

Pell grant eligibility is not based on income but EFC. The maximum EFC for Pell eligibility is $4,995. The maximum amount is $5,550 at $0 EFC and is reduced as the EFC increases to the maximum.

If you want to estimate what your EFC would be you can use the worksheets at the link below. You will probably need pages 9-10 and 17-20.
