So I got accepted into both Northeastern U. and Brandeis (obviously), and I was just wondering which school would be a better fit for me, who’s planning to major in the Psych area (not too sure about the specific field tho). I think I’d be better suited for a close-knit class system like Brandeis, but I heard that the overall environment (inc. off-campus area) was better in Northeastern U, not to mention the co-op system. Personally, I’m that kind of person who is outgoing ONCE he gets to know someone. Otherwise, I can be quite reclusive, so it’d be better if the school has more friendly people. It’s just that Brandeis has a significantly higher ranking that NEU, which I presume asserts its superior academics to NEU, which is an aspect I value greatly. So could you please help me with choosing a college better suitable for me?

brandeis wins!
I almost went to northeastern but, the school has no campus and to me feels like a commuter school.

the co-op thing drives me nuts…when I spent time on the campus a while back and went to the graduation (for a member of the family) every other word spoken is co-op. yikeeees!
I believe that brandies would give you a great all around college exp. and prepare you for work or grad school. the only down side is the freshman triples in the dorm. (unless that does not bother you)

Thanks for your input!

I don’t believe that Brandeis has “superior” academics to NEU(although I may be a bit bias, since I did not apply to Brandeis but did apply to NEU- however, you will most likely get “Brandeis” as an answer since this is in the Brandeis forum, and the same goes for the norteastern forum.) Anyhow, since you’re a psych major, I don’t think co-op will help you as much as it may a pre- med, or an engineering student. Brandeis may be a better fit for you since it has a “close-knit community”(I haven’t researched Brandeis much so I can’t comment on that.) However, what Brandeis does lack, especially in comparison to NEU is diversity, which turned me off to the school(and I mean the lack of ethnic, socioeconomic, and - to a somewhat lesser extent- religious diversity.) If that doesn’t bother you then Brandeis may be a better fit, but I think NEU may push you out of your comfort zone and enable you to be more social upon first meeting a person- which may not be a bad thing. Good luck and keep us updated on your decision!

I disagree with most of what Jazmine wrote and I go to a different school entirely. I think Brandeis has much better Academics than NEU. I also think Brandeis is very, very diverse. I have visited both and have family who attended both. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just see it in a different way.

You’re right posterfan- everyone is entitled to their opinion. The most helpful advice would probably be to go and visit and see for yourself which school you could envision yourself at.
