Neuroscience Chances

Hi Everyone!

I just have a question for anyone who can answer it, really. Ok so this semester I will be graduating from Penn State with a degree in Linguistics with a neuroscience focus, and a minor in Italian. My gpa is around a 3.8, I have had 2 years of lab research experience, and I went abroad over the summer for a 6 credit opportunity to do lab research in Sweden. I have not yet taken the GRE's (I'm taking a year off for personal issues), but I'm sure that my scores will be pretty good. Now, after realizing that I like the more neurological side of linguistics than the actual study of language itself, I was wondering if I would be at all attractive to PhD programs in Neuroscience. I have taken 4 biology classes (Neurobio and Neuroscience) and 2 Cognitive Neuroscience Psych courses, 2 semesters of general chemistry, and 2 semesters of calculus. My lab research was also neuro-linguistics based as well, so I do have neuroscience-related experience. With that being said, is a Linguistics degree going to prevent me from getting into a program?

Thanks!

Nope. It could even be a little bit of a hook. BUT you do need to check your science coursework against their admissions requirements; it could be too light right now. But rest assured, if you do meet the minimum requirements, you’ll get the same consideration as someone with a B.S.
