Neuroscience

I am currently an undergraduate international business major transferring to Central Michigan University. I kind of want to switch my major to neuroscience, but I’m not sure if that would be the wisest decision. If I were going to be a neurologist would that require me to go to med school after obtaining my bachelors in neuroscience at an undergraduate level?

You could always get a Phd in neuroscience, but if I were you, I would stick to international businness (unless if you really hate it or are confident you can get into med school). Neuroscience majors and Phd’s don’t have the best job prospects.

In order to be a neurologist, you must go to medical school. A BS in neuroscience won’t make you a neurologist. A PhD technically means that you could be a neurologist, but not in the same sense as a medical neurologist. You would be a neuroscientist with a PhD that does research.

I say stick with international business. You can still go to medical school, but you must take the pre requisites. Some schools vary as to what they want you to take, but these are the general requirements:

2 semesters of Biology with lab
2 semesters of Chemistry with lab
2 semesters of Organic Chemistry with lab
2 semesters of Physics with lab
