Does anyone know when exactly the new ACT Essay format will be implemented? The ACT website says “Fall 2015”, but doesn’t state the exact month. I called them, but got the same response: Fall 2015. Very vague. And the new format is dramatically different (and involves) more work than the current essay format.

Anyone preparing for the fall might have to prepare for both the old and new essay formats, depending on when you’re planning to take the test.

And the new edition of the Real ACT “Red Book” (4th edition) “is expected to be published in 2016”, according to the publisher Peterson’s, per email. So the only material available on the new essay format (or any other changes) is on the ACT website, which currently isn’t much.

The new essay will start from the SEPTEMBER 2015 session.
