New Commandant of Cadets Named at West Point

Brig. Gen. Robert Caslen, Jr. has been selected as the 70th commandant of cadets at the US Military Academy at West Point. He will assume command from Brig. Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti next Friday.

Brig. Gen. Scaparrotti will be promoted to major general prior to the change of command. He will move on to work at US Central Command. Caslen, a native of Jay, Vermont, is a 1975 West Point graduate and holds a Masters in Business Administration from Long Island University and a Masters in Science from Kansas State University.

It may just be me but it seems they are changing out the entire higher at West Point...the Supe, Commandant, haven't heard anything about the CSM, but wouldn't be suprised at this point. I wonder if this means things will be laxer than past years or will toughen up since they guys will want to 'improve' West Point with policy changes and what not, or maybe exactly the same...I really don't know how much influence these individuals have over the academy to be honest (I know they are in charge, but can they change regs and all?)

It's the army and they only hold positions for a certain period of time. It's normal to do.

Nope, nothing out of the ordinary--normal "changing of the guard"

Everything will seem tougher :D - except the upperclassmen will know that you will have the easiest Beast in WP history.
