New dorm move in? Brooks Crossing

Anybody hear anything about the status of the new Brooks Crossing dorm?

When DS emailed reslife two different times this week, the first email was not responded to at all and the response to the second email was that they are too busy to respond. Pretty poor customer service for the amount we pay for room rent.

DS needs to move in earlier than the usual upperclass move in days because he has obligations during orientation week.

The people you’re reaching at ResLife probably don’t know. My kid worked there. They may be scrambling. They’re likely praying it comes off. But they don’t control it.

You might do better calling because someone might tell you what they may be careful about saying in print where it could be forwarded around.

I’m leaving the heavy lifting to DS. He said that he would call if he doesn’t hear from them by Friday. I think I’m more anxious about it than he is.

It’s a pretty amazing looking place and the floorplans show each BR with a bathroom.

Yes, it does look fantastic. I hope we get to see it!

We are coming 600 miles with a car load of stuff. He also has a rented storage space about 15 minutes away by car full of more stuff. I sure hope he doesn’t have to move all that twice.

An email went out to bridge housing students (between summer and fall semester) that said opening would be hopefully by 8/15, maybe by 8/29, but possibly later.

An email went out to all Brooks residents today that said maybe by 8/29, but possibly later.

A separate email is supposed to go out to early move in students (athletic, orientation support, etc) later. DS hasn’t received that yet.

If it makes you feel better, my kid was an RA in the last new dorm, O’Brien, and they were putting in doors and thresholds, etc. after move-in (and had to replace some stuff). It will get done but it might not get completely done.
