Back when S was just looking at colleges, one of the best resources I found to get behind the scenes and learn a little bit about the culture and engagement of the student body was reading the online version of their school paper. Generally run and overseen by students, and wonderfully independent of the school administration, school papers give you an opportunity to see what's going on around campus, the current issues they're talking about and any grievances between students and administrations, etc. I love the opinion pages most of all!

Anyway.. looked today and see Middlebury Campus got a little facelift this year!!

Too many different fonts.

Too many different font sizes and colors.

Cluttered, messy, unkempt appearance.

Low-res and poorly color-corrected photos.

Page composition breaks format thrice.

Page elements resize in a way that obscures other features.

Unclear interface features; e.g. use of an ellipsis that suggests a link that does not link.

Some very unattractive graphics, like the magnifying glass on the top left corner, which opens a search input box that obscures part of the main banner.

It’s pretty bad, actually. You know the school has to be exceptionally good to have a web page this bad. (“With a name like Smucker’s…”)
