New Forbes ranking finds UF top school in the State ahead of UM,FSU

UF, at 80th, Is Florida?s Top School -- Forbes | Sunshine State News

Only 80th? Should be higher!

Makes you feel a little better about being broke right about now ;)

Hey, it’s higher than NYU! :)

So glad I decided to transfer here. Good fellow CC Gators! Let’s work hard in school to make sure our ranking improves further!!

Being top of Florida is good, but come on… 80th isn’t anything to brag about. Let’s get it to below 50 next year.

The U.S. has roughly 4,500 colleges and universities. I think 80 is pretty damn impressive. Not that we shouldn’t try to do better, but let’s not belittle the achievement.

Not surprisingly, these rankings are not reliable.

Often times, reputation is quite an important factor when it comes to landing a job – this list neglects that aspect.

Affordability of a university has nothing to do with its quality and shouldn’t hold that much (or any) weight in ranking colleges. A top school is a top school, regardless of whether it costs an arm and a leg to attend or is highly affordable. Affordability should be its own list.

I noticed a lot of LACs on the list. The #33 (Research Universities) ranking seems a lot more accurate. Going to have to agree with SeekingUni here and say their methodology is suspect.

This methodology is ■■■■■■■■… I just looked at it… However, seeing as how the other publics in Florida are being held to the same standard, it is safe to say that UF is Florida’s top public university. Miami and UF are pretty equivalent to me, ie, UF is ranked higher on US news world ranking and arwu, Miami is higher on US news national. For medicine, which is what I’m doing, they’re basically regarded as equals, so I don’t think one can go wrong with either, so I’m on pretty content with my college choice. plus, the research ranking looks accurate. UF is a research powerhouse… Partly because its a huge public, but it’s a powerhouse nonetheless.
