We are testing a fixed width to create a more consistent display. What are the things you don’t like about the look, and what kind of screen resolution are you using? Thanks.
See the thread on the parent’s cafe that jym linked for more input. But the threads are in a “box” that is now much narrower, with just lots of empty blue space on either side. I use the old classic look, and the lighter area with useful info is narrower with the dark blue areas of blank nothingness on either side much larger.
The fixed width is way too narrow.
it looks OK in 1280x1024 and 1024x768, but terrible in 1360x768 and 1600x900 (which I use)

Like the previous posters, I’m getting a huge blue border on both sides. I have a widescreen Mac display, but CC looked fine previously!
I use a high screeen resolution so would prefer a wider width than this is setting as a default. I really don’t like the few web pages that force a default width.
Way too narrow! It seems that there is no point in more than an inch of dark blue (on my screen anyway) surrounding the important stuff. I have ad blocker and am using Firefox. Apparently that’s some of the problem, per the other thread. It’s so constricting… Don’t like it at all. Sorry…

Virtually every laptop and lcd monitor is at least 1280 pixels wide. Why do you want to restrict the width to only 850 pixels or so?
And if for some reason I like to have a browser window that is less than 850 pixels across, now I have to scroll to see everything.
It’s a dumb idea. Switch it back. And spank the genius who thinks it is a good idea to provide less flexibility and usability to your users and make him stand in the corner for 15 minutes.

Yes, change it back, please! It’s awful. My shoulders clench up as soon as I arrive at the site since the change.

You either have your monitor set to fairly low resolution (1024 pixels wide or less), or you just happen to keep your browser window sized to about 900 pixels wide.
Resize your browser to be bigger and you will see that the content no longer scales to use the entire window.
And if you resize your browser smaller, at some point a scroll bar will show up along the bottom. This never used to happen - before the content would redraw itself to use the full width of the window, however wide it is.
