Subs lunches is the percentage of kids who get free or reduced lunches. Can't help on the other one though.

I think the list is completely random.

***, my school isn't in there....and my school is better than some of the nearby schools on that list.

It's alot better than the #65 school (Cocoa Beach).

I hope that USN&WR comes out soon with its ranking of top pre-kindergarten programs. That would be useful information in order to get your kids into the best kindergarten programs (based on the USN&WR rankings, of course), which would be critical to gaining admission to a top elementary school (ranked by USN&WR), which would be helpful in order to get your kids into the best middle schools (please see USN&WR rankings), so that you can get your kids into the best high schools (refer back to link in the original post), so that you can make sure that your kids get into Harvard -- oh, I forgot, Princeton is #1 according to USN&WR. Can this get any more ridiculous?

***? my school is in the 700s...when there are 5 others schools within a 10 mile radius of us who we KNOW WE ARE BETTER THAN...in the 100s and 200s...we ranked one above another in our state rank....

woot mine is number 8 this year

Wow there is only 1 school on the entire list within 100 miles of me.

lol...my school isn't even ranked. But, our rival is :P

was mid 100s in '03, but dropped to the low 500s now

Even though it's pretty inaccurate, it would take way too much research, visiting, etc. to personally look through every school and interview students and the such.

yournamehere: Stuy isn't on there because it's a public elite. Ugh. I hate Stuy. What a bunch of disillusioned overfunded kids. I kind of wish they would rank the public elites too, and not just alphabetize them- I want to see where mine would stand.

Once again, my school didn't make the top 1400.

E & E is equity and excellence. It means the portion of graduating seniors that had a passing grade on at least one AP or IB test.

There is one school near me at 400 something that has 4 honors classes total and 3 APs. It does have a low dropout rate but that's because the parents in that district just move kids who dropout so technically it's not a dropout. It's a really crappy highschool and that is how I know the ratings are b.s. lol.

Is that Grosse Pointe South or Troy? I was pretty sure Troy was fine, but I could understand the former.

Both #1 and #2 are from Dallas. I'm proud.

My school is in the mid-30s. It is kind of a joke, since for the past two years we have since a "D" school according to FCAT (this year we are a "C"). It is probably ranked that high due to the IB program, which was placed there so the school wouldn't shut down, although I guess AP does contribute some.

we're number 37

The grading system for Florida is pretty pathetic.

wow my school went from 96 last year to 210. sad. we still are one of the best schools in the states though

my school went from top 100 in 200 to the upper 800's now-lol. But if u look at the differences btwn each ranking its so minimal that it doesnt mean anything

There's only one school from my STATE on there. Sux.

my school's part of the "elites" (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12551652/site/newsweek/)
so it was excluded from the regular list, honestly though, these rankings don't prove anything.

Fu*k this. My school's probably on the Newsweek "Bottom 1000" rankings if they ever had one. Good luck people, with your cut throat neighbors, teachers swamped with rec requests, and counselors that can't memorize all your names.
