Ken Jennings has some insensitive tweets in his past.
Pre-Jeopardy in the 70’s even Alex Trebek said some things while hosting game shows he’d probably not be proud of. As someone mentioned, watch a 70’s game show on GSN and many comments are cringe-worthy. Different times. Hollywood Squares and Match Game can be flat out creepy.

I’m not judging Ken Jennings. In fact, he’s my first choice to take over the role. I was just pointing out what the critics have said and will say if he becomes the host. They are going to have a hard time finding the perfect one.
Apparently Aaron Rodgers said in an interview just before the guy stepped down that he would still totally be interested in the job if they’d work around his schedule.

Mayim is going to guest host for 3 weeks in place of Mike Richards. Seems like Mayim overload to me. I preferred it when someone hosted for just one week. Plenty of time to check them out. I could not wait for a few of them that went two weeks to be done!
But she has already been “chosen” as a host. She’s already won approval - from the show if not the fans. It seems natural they would ask her to do this. They sure don’t want to look like they are back at square one.

Yes, I understand that. But she was not chosen (or couldn’t do it because of her schedule) for the gig that Mike Richards got (or gave himself!). I’m probably being cranky because she was not a top pick for me for the role! I loved her in Big Bang Theory and thought she was good as a guest host, just not one of my favorites.

You’re allowed to not care for her on this role. 
But it only makes sense that they would ask or accept her for at least this short term gig - I think it’s a delicate Time for the show right now. If they put someone other than her in right now, it would show faith in their decision to choose her for the role they did.

This is an issue the show needs to address (and because of its nature, cannot address). Different people have different views. I liked the 1 week stints less than the 2 week stints. Took time to get used to given guest hosts. And they tended to get better as their stay moved on. For hosts that anyone doesn’t like, one show was too many. But thats just my view. The show can’t please everyone.
My take FWIW:
This is not a guest host stint.
Two host were selected for distinct roles; one was unable to continue in his role so they tapped the other to sub in for the first round of 3 week tapings.
How the show proceeds with permanent host selection remains to be seen.

This may not be a typical guest host stint but some mainstream media are characterizing it that way. The whole thing is unfortunate. I’m surprised Mike Richards is staying on as executive producer. Just seems like it would be very awkward for both him and the upcoming guest hosts for him to still be involved.
I got back into Jeopardy when the sad news about Alex came out . And the guest hosts were interesting , some more than others(we are all going to have different favorites). Not sure how long I’ll stick with it regularly (watching lots more than usual) going forward at this point. But, I’ll probably stick around for awhile to see how this drama plays out. And I love trivia!

And even Mother Teresa had controversial things if you google her. It’s a mess and very disappointing for the Jeopardy legacy.
