As an aside, I wasn’t crazy about Ken when he did his first hosting stint but he seems to be loosening up as more time goes by and I’m warming up to him as a host.
Ken did a better job on this first stint as host than I thought he would. His passion for the show was clearly evident. He has been even better with the current stint. Seems to me he has relaxed a lot more and is less focussed on replacing Alex (tough to avoid that as the first post-Alex host) and is trying to make it his.
They also announced officially on the show that next week will start a professors’ tournament. Trying something different.
I am missing the continuation of Amy’s run. I was thinking the extra tournaments with Mayim would be shown separately but I obviously misunderstood. The professor one so far is just okay.
They talked about Mayim hosting primetime shows and some type of spin off series which she was announced as a host back in August. But the show typically has several tournaments a year (teachers, teen, kids, tournament of champs, etc) which interrupt the regular shows. Often not much of an issue in that contestants with 10+ wins are not common (though 3 this season so far). Breaks for short term winning contestants aren’t as noticeable.
From Twitter:
We are delighted to let you know our excellent and experienced team in front of and behind the camera will continue into 2022:
@missmayim and @kenjennings will share hosting duties through the end of ! Season 38, and Michael Davies will remain as executive producer.
That answers a question we had back when Ken and Mayim were announced as hosting the rest of this year. Was it the calendar year or this season (which will continue into 2022).
Wouldn’t be surprised if the shared hosting turned into a permanent arrangement.
I really like having Ken as the host - he seems to become a part of the program and doesn’t draw unnecessary attention away from the show for me.
Just saw this today - " ‘Jeopardy!’ champ Amy Schneider’s 21st win in a row makes her the show’s winningest woman"
Ken is getting better and better. He can throw in a correct response naturally. Example, 2 people mentioned the wrong president, and he said it was the one in between.
Amy is definitely smart
Very cool! I like Amy - she is so knowledgeable and quick but she has a sense of humor and comes across as very humble.
Amy’s fun fact tonight was getting 1600 on the SATs. Ken asked what her secret was. I was waiting for her to say “it was on the 2400 scale” but nope! Good for her! (to quote Alex).
Some Final Jeopardy questions are a piece of cake but I thought tonight’s was tough–had to do with 1912 polar explorers. Interesting since 1912 was the clue to yesterday’s FJ (year of the Titanic, rescue ship Carpathian).
Thursday night Amy faced two strong competitors. It was not a runaway for her and she seemed to become flustered towards the end.
I saw that earlier today and was sorry to hear that. I like Amy . Hope she’s okay-getting robbed is certainly traumatic.
Wow. Nobody got Springsteen tonight. Crazy!
Wow, I got final right and Amy didn’t!!! :::::thud:::::
One of those time when I’m screaming at the TV
Nor did I
I didn’t get the final, but was amazed when no one got Bruce!
