New Jeopardy host preference? / Jeopardy updates

For obscure references I feel Matt is morphing into Fee Waybill (Google The Tubes). But anyway why not at least play for a charity of their choosing? I enjoyed the lack of formality to a point but after awhile it appeared the contestants didn’t know how far to take it and it became a throwaway.
I also feel Matt was either laying in the weeds or smoking them…I guess we’ll see

Glad that Matt finally completed his Ph.D. at Yale and is now a post doc, likely at Harvard or MIT since he lives in Cambridge. With his winnings he can certainly afford to live there.

He’s a post-doc at the Broad Institute which, for a true daily double, is affiliated with both Harvard and MIT.

Harvard and MIT. He’s at Broad Institute

Okay. S’all good, man. I was just interested to see if there was a critical mass of posters here (similar to the wordle thread) who were interested in a group consensus of not posting not only outright answers, but also vague clues, before everyone has had a chance at the source material. Obviously there’s not, so I’ll try to remember to only open this thread on mornings or weekends.

Great game. I think Ken is proving to be a great, funny, engaging host.

Agreed on both points

As I said many (many) posts ago, I like Ken more than Alex. Ken has a great way of kidding with contestants and correcting them without making it seem like he knows everything and that they are dumb. Alex wasn’t that good at that.

I get the impression that Ken really DOES know the bassist in the rock bands and weird little science things but Alex only knew them because they were on the cards in front of him.

I asked about favorites to make it into the finals and I said mine were Matt, Amy, and Sam. So, two of my 3 are now into the finals. I’m guessing Mattea will probably make it into the finals tomorrow . I don’t dislike Mattea either. The finals should be interesting!

I think Ken is getting better and better as a host as he grows more comfortable at the podium.
Whenever Mayim takes over hosting duties she will have a tough act to follow.

I would love to see Ken as the consistent, regular host of Jeopardy. The extra hosting stuff with the other shows that Jeopardy is doing, I don’t care about that much. Mayim is just okay to me but would be okay for the extra stuff. I am not going out of my way to watch most of that stuff anyway!

I wouldn’t be shocked if it ended up that way at some point.

Entirely agreed. He’s really growing into the job. And as he does so, he’s giving the producers more to work with in crafting his persona that’s different from Trebek’s. (Witness Ken’s swearing, which the producers chose to air, bleeped. This was a choice they never made for Trebek, given his more formal host persona.)

If that had been a regular game, instead of an exhibition game, it would likely have been cut.

The finals should be great . 2 of my 3 favorites going into this got into the finals (Amy and Sam). I didn’t dislike Mattea but she wasn’t a favorite. I like Andrew. Should be an interesting (although probably a little unexpected in terms of who got in) finals. I am a little surprised that BOTH Matt and Mattea got knocked out. The remaining three are all good players. Looking forward to some good games ahead.

Neither one of them seemed to have the “determination” that they showed during their initial runs.

Agree----Matt’s heart just didn’t seem to be in it. He could be ready to get on with his life.

It appears that geography is Amy’s weak spot: Bangladesh and now Sri Lanka.

2 games in now for the finals. I’m enjoying it so far. I like all 3 contestants. Very different personalities but all likeable (at least to me). And all certainly smart!

Unlike the contestants, I knew the FJ question, but I had no idea who Gridley was until I googled. That’s just a whole new level of arcane knowledge.
