I will be attending Northeastern University in the fall as an engineering student with a possible business minor. My laptop is a few years old and is starting to slow down and the keys are getting sticky and can’t keep up with my typing at times. It’s a Lenovo Ideapad with a 17-inch screen (I have bad vision so I prefer a larger screen) and I don’t remember all the other specs in all honesty. Any tips? If I should get a new laptop, what should I look for with respect to my major?
All you need is RAM and a decent processor, plus your screen size preference. 16GB is preferred for RAM for engineering.
It kinda depends on which engineering you’re going into - for a meche or someone else who’s going to be using CAD you should go with a windows machine with a good graphics card and a decent amount of RAM Lenovo, Dell, and HP all have good options right now and you may small a 4th of July deal. Any other line of engineering opens your options up a bit - ie you could get a Mac if you wanted.
The only real requirements are you should get something with a good processor and at least 4GB (preferably 8 or more) of RAM with a build quality that’ll last you four years.
