Alright, so I'm getting a new laptop fro freshman year and am looking for portability and battery life. At this point, I'm somewhat undecided between mac and pc, so it would be great if you could post your main reason why you use one instead of the other. With the large number of non-mac computers out there, I would appreciate it if you could give some specific examples of lightweight, reliable laptops on the market (if you're a pc advocate anyways). If you support mac computers, which laptop would you recommend.

Go with whatever you’ve been using your whole life. Whatever it is, there is no reason to switch over. (Though I root for Windows over Mac OS’s).

I personally prefer running Linux on a PC, but mainly for reasons of cost and philosophy. If Mac was open source and cost the same as Linux on PC, I probably would have gone Mac.

bro…go with the mac. I just got a Macbook Pro 15" (the new ones…aww yeahh khedd) for Christmas (early Grad gift) and it’s DANK. I love it. I’ve only had it for like two days and I can barely go back to my family’s PCs. They don’t get nearly as many viruses as PCs, plus this one is sooo much faster than my comps. The battery is nasty. On Christmas Day, I watched a football game LIVE on the NFL website AND iChatted my friend (video chat) and it took hours to take down the battery! That’s unreal. It’s amazing, I don’t regret it. The only thing i’m worried about with bringing it to college is getting cheetos/liquids/“herbs” smudged on it ;)
