New MBP, and what I need for college

Oh, my bad, I missed that i7 bit :)

If you’re still interested, you can buy them from newegg.com.

Truthfully though, you can’t find an i7 machine with great battery life. Are you sure you need an i7? An i5 is a very strong CPU already, and I’m not entirely sure how it is for laptops but for desktops the only applicable difference between the two is that the i7 has hyperthreading.

Well, the main reason I’m looking for an i7 is that I will probably be doing some heavy audio recording/mixing/producing with multiple tracks and the whole bit. Core i5 would be okay, but i7 would be optimal.

If I do want an i7, what laptop would you suggest (considering battery life)? And for i5? I should note that I’m mainly looking at the major manufacturers (HP, Sony, Lenovo, Dell, etc).

The Timeline X can be configured with i5; not sure about i7. However it hasn’t been released in the U.S. yet <_<
@r31: the i5 has hyperthreading as well.
