Gov. Lujan Grisham announced that New Mexico will offer free college tuition–including tuition to community college-- to all state residents regardless of age.
While NM has had a last dollar program for several years, the new initiative is a first dollar program. This means that any student who qualifies for other state grants and federal grants will be allowed to stack those on top of their free tuition & fees to pay health insurance, books, dorm/living expenses, transportation and other costs associated with the price of attending college.
Additionally, the free tuition scholarship is open to part-time as well as full time students, and it covers students seeking associate degrees and certificate/career training at community colleges.
