Terry LaBolt has just been appointed the new music director for IU’s new MT program. All of you students attending the IU program are in for a treat. Terry is a wonderful musician and a fabulous teacher. He is a very generous, caring individual and will be a tremendous asset to IU. Those of us who know him in greater Cincinnati are going to miss him terribly.

HOwever, we are bummed because we were going to ask Terry starting this fall to work with D as a vocal coach. She has worked with him in a few shows and feel comfortable with him. Cincy's loss is Bloomington's gain - I guess.

If Terry is the new Music Director what is Roy's title? Will Terry and Roy only be teaching the MTs or will they be available to teach some of the BAs also? Anyone know?

I have no idea, I was wondering that too...what that means for Ray (what his 'title' is).

actually rays title will just be a voice teacher. and yes for probably one more semester ba's MAY be available to take lessons with him.. however when a new class comes in the next year. it will be soley for the bfa's.

So for about 24 BFAs they need 2 music teachers just for them?

From what I know, Ray will be voice teacher for the existing and the incoming (sophomore and freshman) BFA classes. Terry will be teaching the Musical Theatre Workshop class, which is song analysis, performance coaching, and MT literature studies. To break it down simply, Ray will be teaching voice while Terry will be coaching songs. This is not set in stone, and I'm sure that they will work in conjunction. I do suspect that Ray will not be able to take any more students other than the BFAs.
