Does anyone have an opinion on the atmosphere at new Paltz? Specifically student body attitudes? I’ll be a junior transfer and a commuter so I’m a bit worried about meeting people
This has been discussed a lot, a simple search will get you a lot of threads that all say the same exact thing: friendly, chill, down to earth, somewhat hippie, artsy, quirky.
My niece transferred to New Paltz as a junior. She made some very good friends there. Although they graduated a few years ago and now live in different states, they still get together for concerts and road trips. I think it helped that they did as much of that as they could while they were in school.
New Paltz has an artsy, laid back feel to it. I think most of the upperclassmen live off campus, so that won’t be unusual. Get involved in activities that interest you and you should be fine.
