So a lot of new students at different boarding schools have create threads to congregate and converse, so I thought why not we create a thread for ourselves. On this thread we can discuss different issues pertaining to our future school and just get to 'meet' our new classmates. We can also provide tips for each other like @mrnephew did in his Lawrenceville thread.

Any tips for choosing electives for next year? There are so many options!!! At least we still have about two weeks.

I know! I fee like there are too many options honestly. I am going to kind of base it off of my interest levels, though, but more so for the spring term because I am a sufferer of that whole third quarter dip at my current school, and I don’t want to have a class that I’m motivated to do well in haha.

Bumppp lets revive this thread xp so what did you guys end up choosing?

I ended up choosing pre-colonial Africa for fall, screenwriting for winter, and web design for spring. And I’m doing symphonies all three terms! Except I kind of want to just do choir. I’m honestly not sure yet

*Symphonia

Fall: Pre-colonial Africa (ayeee @boardingjunkie)
Winter: Photography I
Spring: New Testament

And I’m doing concert band all three terms

Just a heads up–because we were confused by this before prep year–most ensembles are by try out, and you can try out and join during orientation week. So if you change your mind, it’s not a problem to change once you get to school. My kid usually added in at the beginning of the term without preregistering.

Hey, @needtoboard @boardingjunkie I’m taking Pre-Colonial Africa fall term too!

@classicalmama okay I’m glad that it’s kind of flexible based on your audition. Because I plan on being in both Concert Choir but I also want to do orchestra. And thing is, I’m pretty sure I’ll get into Symphonia since it’s the intermediate orchestra and that’s where I am, but I don’t know if I’ll get into concert choir. But it’s nice that I can just sort of show up and based on how I do and what u learn in the first week I can change if I need to.

I’m pretty sure @mrnephew dislikes me lol! XD

~#ExeterClassof2020

@classicalmama thanks! thats good to know

I chose a transition course for intl students for fall term, ancient rome for winter term, and Computer Science 305 xp cant remember the name

By the way … when do we get the dorm and roommate assignments? August or sth? And do we get the name of the roommate so we can contact them before we get to campus?

How does registering for sports work? I signed up for the level I thought I would be competing at based on my times and skills, but is that subject to change come September? Also, I play soccer, so is there a preseason for that?

@omgjusttellme I had indicated in my application that I was a very good volleyball player and I was interested in playing volleyball at Exeter. The coach emailed me shortly after M10, congratulating me and asking whether I was coming to Experience Exeter. When I told him that I had definitely chosen Exeter, he sent an email saying that he would email all the workouts, preseason and tryouts dates… There were about 20 girls that he sent like… 20 excel worksheets a month ago with the workouts and drills we were to do during this summer, and also all the info about the preseason, tryouts, camps, V, JV.

Back to your situation. My advice is, contact the coach, tell him you are interested in playing soccer, and ask him about the tryouts… preseason dates and everything :)

Thanks @RockComet

heyyyy I’m going to exeter this fall, class of 2016!!

yayy hello fellow exonian
