New Scoring and Very Confused

I took the new ACT which now scores essays 1-36. So, I am very confused as to how I’m supposed to calculate my combined writing and english score for the common app when both scores add up to a number greater than 36. Help?

english: 30
writing: 17 (I suspect that my score is too low due to the new test and all but I wasn’t able to rescore it)
