New to the forum, and boy do I have questions.

Here is how you can get an idea of where your son is in the top 25%. Google “common data set” “name of school” 2009 … 2010 won’t be up yet. These are very informative data sets about those who applied and were admitted to that school. They will give you top 25% and bottom 25% on test scores and gpa. Also boy/girl info. LOTS of good info. You can then target schools where his stats put him in the top 25% to try to get merit - but of course, they must give merit -and that’s where the research on the school’s websites comes in hand.

Superscore - you can google “superscore” ACT … or SAT …and there are some lists. There is some debate on whether these are accurate. I have found that even calling and emailing doesn’t always get you the right answers - unless you talk to the right person. It’s hard to find out. I know … CU does, University of Denver, and Wash U - all for scholarships.

I think it’s more common for schools to superscore the SAT than the ACT.

Yes, that’s true - and there are a growing number of schools that are superscoring the ACT … CU, Wash U and University of Denver all superscore the ACT for example.

OK…I’m an newb…what does OP stand for?
