Wait...why does what a student thinks vs. actual matter? I might "think" I
ll get $150K and instead I get $151K. I'd much rather have this than expect $65K and end up with $80K.

slipper,
This is not based on what a student thinks. It is based on the difference between actual salaries and salaries predicted by a regression equation that uses GMAT and GPA to predict an expected salary.

It is analogous to to overperformance/underperformance of graduation rates in US News, except it is for salaries.

hmm, why does UPenn suck at MBA

Penn has the highest adjusted salary. It also has the highest GMATs, so you would expect it to have the highest salary. In Penn's case, the salary doesn't exceed expectations by as much as the schools above it.

Slipper missed the old Harvard adage "we take the best and try not to screw them up too much".

Wharton, Columbia, Chicago, Michigan, Stanford, Tuck and Haas all out of the top 20...and Kellogg almost missing the top 20 by a hair? A ranking that would have those elite MBA programs ranked so low isn't very reliable.

Don't be fooled by "adjusted salary", the numbers aren't adjusted for region and cost of living differences. I bet adjusting these would yield a list more in line with reality.

Alexandre-
The schools you named are certainly great Business schools. But, are they great because of the students they get or because of what they do with the students after they get there? That's the point of this ranking. It is an attempt at a "value added" ranking.

tomslawsky-
Can't you assume that graduates scatter to various regions and the salary differentials balance out?
