FYI - interesting short piece about a recently released documentary, “Maineland,” that follows two wealthy Chinese students through three years at Fryeburg.

What a fantastic message for parents to give to their children. We are lucky to have foreign students like this in our high schools.

I saw this documentary in school- very interesting. If I’m being completely honest, I personally don’t think that it paints Fryeburg in the best light. The doc showed numerous instances where students were pigeon holed/treated differently because of there race and there was even a sign in their common room that said “Only English room”, meaning that students couldn’t speak in their native tongue. In another scene, a faculty member confuses two Chinese boys and says “sorry, I just couldn’t tell you apart, you look so similar!”.

So odd, I just drove by this place last weekend and I couldn’t figure out the campus. I think I might have just seen one building on the main road, but in looking at the campus map there’s certainly more there!
